Super Bowl - Space Raider Victory

It was a tough tough day in Texan Territory. The Space Raiders beat the Texans by 1 point - 13 to 12 to become the 2006 Freshman TIFI Champions. Congratulations Space Raiders - well done. Both teams played their hearts out. It was a difficult way to end such a great season.

Nathan and I were coming home from the game - there were alot of tears from both of us. His because of the loss of the game - mine, well I hate to see my boy hurt and disappointed. It was a quiet ride - no music - nothing - until I broke the silence. I asked Nathan if I could say some things to him that I thought he needed to hear. He nodded his head yes.

I told him that I was proud of him and his team the way they played today. They played hard, they were well coached and they listened to their coaches. I said that he would be playing in many more ball games in his life - football, baseball, and basketball (anything but soccer ... grin) and he would win some and he would loose some. He probably would be playing in playoff and championship games again - and he would win some and loose some.

But that isn't what should define him. I told him not to let winning or loosing ball games define him as a man. When he and his team won - which they will - to win with dignity, humility and grace. And when they lost - which they will - to do so with dignity, humility and grace.

I told him he was a gift from God - and I was so proud for Sharon and I to be his parents- regardless of if he ever played another game. His value wasn't determined on a field - he was loved and accepted unconditionally.

It was a cool moment. Our puffy eyes met and hearts still hurting - we both knew all would be well.

Don't forget to love on you kids. They are really incredible.

MOVIE NEWS - The Game movie has every play (except for the one's I missed when the old guy in the wheel chair made me move - he was a grumpy piece of work wasn't he?) The length of the move is about 23 minutes long.

Here are some pics from the game.

Semi-Final: LaPorte Texans -vs- LaPorte Cowboys

This was the game that the Texans wanted. They wanted to avenge an opening day 20-12 loss to the Cowboys. With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, both teams gave it their all.

It was a beautiful fall day and the Texans proved too much for the Cowboys handing them a 27-13 loss to end the Cowboys undefeated season.

Now the Texans will move to the Super Bowl and face either the Clear Lake Space Raiders or the Deer Park Tigers for the right to be the 2006 Freshman TIFI Super Bowl Champs! That game is on December 2nd at Deer Park Stadium.

Quarter Finals: LaPorte Texans -vs- LaMarque Tigers

It's Playoff Time!

Today was a Quarterfinal Game between the LaPorte Texans and the LaMarque Tigers. On a beautiful November 11th day, the Texans whalloped the Tigers 30 - 6.

It was a great game! Next week it will be the LaPorte Texans -vs- the LaPorte Cowboys - a rematch from Week One when the Cowboys handed the Texans a 20 - 12 loss. Something tells me it is going to be a bit different this time around!

Here is a video of the game:

Team Impact and the Texans

Many of the Texans came to the Team Impact performance Wednesday Night at Bayshore. All three members of Team Impact welcomed and enjoyed visiting with the Texans! Thanks Coach Ron, Coach Ruben and Coach Johnson for all the work you do with the boys!

Thursday night before practice, Jeff Neal went out to visit with the Texans and challenged them to play like Champions! The Freshman were joined by the Juniors and the Darlins as Jeff blew up and exploded a hot water bottle. He also invited them to come to the remaining performances of Team Impact at Bayshore! Thanks Jeff for coming to the practice!!

If you would like to see more of Team Impacts feats of strength click here and go the Team Impact at Bayshore Baptist Blog! Team Impact will be at Bayshore through Sunday Night, November 12th at 7:00.

LaPorte Texans -vs- Deer Park Tigers

What an incredible game today! With playoff positions on the line, the LaPorte Texans swaggered into hostile territory as they invaded the Deer Park Tigers home field.

Both teams seemed tight at first with both defenses dominating play. The Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead, but it was short lived as Nathan Redd scored from 45 yards out. Dustin Escobar hit Caleb Longoria for the 2-point conversion tying the game at 8. Right toward the end of the first half – Deer Park mounted a drive deep into Texan territory only to see the half come to an end with a tie at 8. Eric Kendzior made a touchdown saving tackle on that drive.

The Texan defense tightened during the second half with 2 interceptions of Deer Park passes. Justin Flores and Caleb Longoria each intercepted the ball on fantastic defensive plays. Ty Chambers also broke up a pass and made some fantastic tackles in the backfield!

The offense got on tract to score 12 unanswered points with pounding runs from Lupe Gonzales and punishing runs from Nathan Redd. The Deer Park defense of the first half wilted under the tireless pounding they were taking from the blocking of the Texans offensive line.

At the end of the game, the Texans were again victorious, 20-8. They are the runner-up Champions of the AFC Conference in the Freshman TIFI League with a conference record of 8 wins 1 loss and overall record of 8 wins and 2 losses.

It was great to see Tyler Bozant back on the field today!

Now it is on to the Playoffs! Great game guys!

LaPorte Texans -vs- Galveston Hurricanes

What an incredibly bruising game! The Hurricanes had hopes of heading to the playoffs, but the Texans stood in their way. At the end of the game it was Texans 19 - Hurricanes 7 and the Texans are playoff bound.

The most impressive part of the game was after the 'Canes had narrowed the score to Texans 12 - 'Canes 7. Then came, "The Drive." It started on the Texans own 37 yard line. A Seven play drive that consisted of Lupe Gonzales up the middle with tough bruising runs and capped of by a 15 yard run by Nathan Redd that was filled with stiff-arms and broken tackles.

The defense just about hung another zero on their opponent, but on a broken play the Hurricanes scampered for a touchdown and extra point.

The Texans are now 7 wins and 1 loss in conference and 7 and 2 overall. Next week, it is the Deer Park Tigers. Let's Go Texans!

On this weeks video, I featured some Christian Rappers. Hope you enjoy!

Here is the video of the game - Sorry about the pole that permeates the video.

LaPorte Texans -vs- Dickinson Gators

What an incredible game! The Texans beat the Gators 24 - 0. The Texans open up an ariel barrage of passes. As best as I could count the passes, the Texans went 7 for 11 for about 125 yards!

After watching the video, a friend of mine said, "Oh my gosh that was a fantastic game those kids played. Ive never seen a freshman team pass that many times and run playaction the way they did. These kids can't be freshman, there more like High school players. Its amazing what those kids can learn from some good coaching. I really enjoyed that film and let Nathan know that we are pulling for him. I tell you what they (Houston Texans) could of used them Sunday during the Dallas Blowout."

The Texans have 5 Conferance Wins agains 1 Loss. With an overall record of 6 and 2. Next week the Galveston Hurricanes at their place!

Here is a video of the game against Dickinson played on October 14th, 2006

LaPorte Texans -vs- Friendswood Colts

It was a beautiful day at Friendswood Stadium. The Texans were as physical as they have ever been. Solid hits, strong tackles and bruising blocks was the theme of the day. One coach who was scouting said, "I have never seen a Freshman Team hit like that ... amazing."

At the end of the game, the score was Texans 24 - Colts 0. This was the 2nd straight shut out the Texans Defense has put on opposing teams.

Here is the video of the Game.

LaPorte Texans -vs- League City Cougars

X. Henry's Touchdown Run! The "X" Factor!!!!!

This game was played on September 30th, 2006

LaPorte Texans -vs- Clear Lake Space Raiders

This game was played against the Clear Lake Space Raiders. The game went into double overtime with the Space Raiders defeating the Texans 25 to 24. Something tells me these two teams will meet again in the playoffs. I think the Texans want to play the Space Raiders far more that the Space Raiders want to see the Texans.
